Sr Staff Systems Engineer – Irvine

Broadcom offers a family of HSUPA/HSDPA/WCDMA, EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution), GPRS (General Packet Radio Services) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) products for use in cellular phones, cellular modem cards and wireless PDAs.In this role you will:-- Participate in the continuous development and maintenance of protocol stacks (L1/L2/L3).--Participate in system integration, verification, debugging and test of new generation of mobile devices based on GSM, GPRS, EGPRS and WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA standards. --Support interoperability(IOT) and live network testing. It will require performing analysis of the problem scenarios and generating efficient solutions. In addition, it may also require travel to the the IOT lab or location of live network testing.--Participate in conformance testing of mobile platform using in-house test equipment and at official test houses. --Travel domestic and international to support IOT, live network testing and conformance testing. --Keep yourself knowledgeable with recent wireless standard changes as well as technical activities in the field. Requirements:Typically requires a BS degree and 6 years of experience and an MS (or PhD) degree and 3 years of experience.Strong understanding of wireless standards (GSM, GPRS, EGPRS and WCDMA) is essential, Knowledge of HSDPA/HSUPA is a plus. Past experience with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/WCDMA protocol stack is highly desirable.Past experience with software development for embedded systems and protocol stack is required.Knowledge of ARM microprocessor, DSP, and RTOS is a plus.Must have 3-5 years of experience with integration and testing of cellular system. Knowledge of mobile communications test equipment is desired.
