SENIOR TEST ENGINEER (Hardware/Software)

Provides technical support to the Manufacturing Test Department. Evaluates and analyzes test results. Designs, fabricates and implements test equipment fixtures and software for improving performance and efficiencies of products in production. Recommends to Engineering design changes to improve test yields.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Strong programming skills used in the area of data collection, failure analysis, test software and process improvements.
Must be skilled in Visual Studio - Visual Basic, Visual Studio Dot Net and SQL Server would be a plus.
Good writing skills with experience in writing test procedures and supporting documentation.
Familiarization and experience using six sigma and lean manufacturing techniques would be a plus.
Provides constant test assistance, training, guidance and support for all production test personnel.
Generates documented recommendations to improve test processes in manufacturing and design changes in Engineering.
Recommends and implements cost effective process improvements.
Organizes and facilitates yield improvement teams as required.
Works with R&D to ensure testability and manufacturability on new products. Designs test equipment and writes Test Procedures to support new products.
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
May perform other related duties as required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Education or experience equivalent to a B.S.E.E. is required. At least 5 years of related experience in an electronic manufacturing environment with strong programming skills for test equipment and data bases is a must. Test Hardware development would be preferred as well. Possessing a thorough understanding of test concepts, electronic testing skills and digital/analog circuitry would also be preferred. Strong written and oral communications are essential. Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing skills would be beneficial.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Position reports to Director, Manufacturing/ Test Engineering
Position regularly interfaces with:
Manufacturing Engineers, Hardware Engineers, Q.A. Engineers, Test Technicians, and Test Supervisors
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Manufacturing environment with no extreme exposure to work hazards or environmental concerns on the job. May operate various test equipment (e.g. oscilloscope, digital meter) and PC/keyboard equipment.
