Principal Firmware Engineer – Irvine

The position provides the opportunity to work on the innovative Broadcom integrated RFIC solutions, such as Venus (BCM21331) and Zeus (BCM21551), among the most integrated cellular baseband in the market. You will work with the RF HW, L1 /DSP/Stack and the Tool team to design and implement the RF driver for Broadcom GSM and WCDMA platforms.MobCom has been producing very competitive chipset devices to the cellular phone market in last few years. MobCom is going to release more products, which will enable strong competitiveness for major tier 1 customers such as Nokia, Samsung and others.In this role, your primary job responsibility will be working on RFIC driver development for the Broadcom WCDMA and GSM platforms, and implementing RF factory calibration algorithm.You will work with HW engineers, firmware and ASIC team engineers to implement/verify/test functions the RF driver implementation.Knowledge of WCDMA or GSM Layer 1 operation will be useful for interpreting logs from IOT and GCF.Requirements: BS degree and 12+ years of experience or an MS degree and 9+ years of experience or a PhD and 6+ years of expereince in RF systems design, integration and test for cellular communication systems.- 5+ years of experience in RF systems design, integration and test for cellular communication systems.- Strong understanding of wireless standards (GSM, GPRS, EGPRS or WCDMA) is essential. Knowledge of HSDPA/HSUPA is a plus.- Must have hands-on experience with GSM/GPRS/EDGE or WCDMA test systems and calibration methodology.- Good knowledge of RF firmware- Good knowledge of C language
